70th Republic Day of India was celebrated at the Consulate General of India, Sittwe.

Over 100 people attended the Indian national flag hoisting comprising NRIs, PIOs, Rakhine community, friends of India and Consulate staff along with their family members. Dr. Kumar Praveen, Consul General hoisted the National flag followed by singing of National Anthem by all present on the occasion at 0900 hrs on 26th January 2019. Speech of Hon’ble President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind was read by Consul General Dr. Kumar Praveen. Veteran Rakhine Town Elder, President of Hindu community also spoke.

In the evening a Reception was also held which was attended by U Kyaw Aye Thein, Hon’ble Minister of Finance, Revenue, Planning and Commerce of Government of Rakhine State as Chief Guest.".
