Satellite Phones not allowed

It is learnt that some foreigner nationals are carrying satellite phones with them while travelling to and from India. As per the latest guidelines issued by the Department of Telecommunications (DOT), Government of India, use of Satellite Phone is not permitted in India. Unauthorized use violates section 4 of Indian Telegraphic Act 1885 and the violator can be penalized and the device would be detained/ confiscated as per the existing procedures till the time the holder of the device is able to produce a license issued by the DOT.

All travelers are requested not to carry any satellite phones with them to avoid confiscation of their personal phones.
